New York, 27 September 2011 - Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with His Excellency Mr. Najib Mikati, Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic, on the margins of the 66th General Assembly

The Secretary-General met today with His Excellency Mr. Najib Mikati, Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic.

The Secretary-General and Prime Minister Mikati discussed the implementation of Security Council resolution 1701 (2006). He expressed appreciation for the support of the Government of Lebanon to UNIFIL, which plays a crucial role in ensuring peace and stability

in southern Lebanon. The Secretary-General also reiterated his support for the work of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, and his call on Lebanon to implement its obligations in this regard.

The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister also discussed the Middle East peace process, and the plight of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

New York, 22 September 2011 - Readout of theSecretary-General's meeting with H.E. Mr. Michel Sleiman, President of the Republic of Lebanon on the margins of the 66th General Assembly

The Secretary-General and President Sleiman discussed the implementation of Security Council resolution 1701 (2006), the importance of full respect of the Blue Line by all parties, and the key role of UNIFIL.

The Secretary-General reiterated his support for the work of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, and his call on Lebanon to implement all its obligations in this regard.

The Secretary-General and the President also exchanged views on regional issues, including the exploration and exploitation of maritime resources in the Eastern Mediterranean.
