UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Sigrid Kaag Meets Lebanon’s Minister of Finance Ali Hassan Khali

Today, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon met with Lebanon's Minister of Finance, Ali Hassan Khalil. They discussed Lebanon's economic, financial and political stability.
The Minister updated the Special Coordinator on areas of relevance to Lebanon's finances and economy, stressing the positive role played by the Ministry of Finance in coordination with the Central Bank in managing the country's finances. The Special Coordinator expressed her concern that the government paralysis together with the presidential vacancy was harming the economy. She reiterated that she had discussed with the Security Council the need for the Lebanese institutions of the State to function effectively and properly.
